1 Plateau des Glières
Le Plateau des Glières est un Espace Naturel Sensible départemental de 450 ha d’alpages, de forêts et de tourbières, qui abritent une faune remarquable et menacée comme le Tétras lyre et la Gélinotte.<br/>De par son histoire, Glières est un haut lieu de mémoire et d’éducation à la citoyenneté en Haute-Savoie. Aussi, les aspects « historiques » sont prépondérants sur le Plateau (Monument National à la Résistance, bâtiment Mémoire du Maquis). Cependant, c’est également un site à très fort intérêt environnemental.
Alpages, tourbières, falaises et forêts composent le paysage diversifié du plateau des Glières. La faune et la flore y sont également remarquables : droséras, gelinotte, tétras…
La pratique des sports de pleine nature (VTT, ski de fond, escalade…) est en adéquation avec le respect de ce patrimoine naturel et historique très riche.

Patrimoine écologique (faune, flore, milieux, paysages, fonctionnalité) :
- Forêt de montagne à épicéas issue de l’enrésinement récente des alpages, pineraie à crochets sur lapiaz et sur tourbières, pelouses, prairies de fauche, grottes… (zonage NATURA 2000).
- 10 tourbières, milieu naturel très original.
- Faune remarquable : loup, lynx, chauve-souris…
- Flore remarquable : panicaut des alpes, sabot de vénus, airelles à petits fruits, drosera, andromède, scheuzerie, laîche,…

Objectif de gestion, actions réalisées et à venir (restauration, entretien, suivi) :
Les forêts départementales bénéficient d’un plan d’aménagement (2010-2024) qui vise deux objectifs principaux de gestion : environnemental, par une conservation des habitats et des espèces ; de production de bois d’œuvre, en favorisant une irrégularisation des peuplements d’épicéas afin d’assurer leur renouvellement.
L’utilisation de la technique du câble pour l’exploitation des bois se justifie sur les zones à forte pente ou à sols très humide.
Un programme expérimental de développement du sylvopastoralisme est en cours sur des alpages du Département et de la commune de Thorens-Glières. Il s’agit de développer différents types de pastoralisme sous milieux forestiers (en fonction de la densité de couvert végétal).
Un inventaire botanique des tourbières a été réalisé, de même que le Document d’objectifs (DOCOB) du site Natura 2000.

Chaque année des animations gratuites de découverte de la nature sont proposées de mai à octobre par le Département et ses partenaires, pour vous permettre de découvrir la richesse du site de manière ludique, artistique et insolite.

2 Refuge de la Pointe Percée - Gramusset (FFCAM)
Located on the Tournette - Aravis circuit and based on its sea of lapies, offers a stunning view of the Aravis moutains and the Mont Blanc, by the Verts pass. Enjoy the sunshine and fresh mountain nights.<br/>Come and taste specialties or drink at any time on the terrace or in front of the fireplace.
Waste management, renewable energy (photovoltaic), pit toilets.
Out of the keeping period, the refuge has a room permanently open in winter.
3 Moutain refuge of Lessy
This refuge is situated on the edge of Lac de Lessy, set against a fabulous mountain backdrop. Its owners are also alpine farmers. The refuge sleeps 24 (overnight or half-board).The refuge is equipped with running water but no shower.<br/>Light meals/snacks at lunchtime.

4 Shelter "Notre Dame des Neiges"
Make the most of our chalet's charm and discover, or rediscover, the delights of old-fashioned evenings. You can enjoy getting up in the morning right in the midst of nature, for a good breakfast, before setting out on a lovely walk on the Plateau des Glières.

The Tourist Office also offers paid Internet access (2 work stations or wifi), the sale of hiking and mountain bike maps, leisure Pass cards, Détente+, registration for visits to the village or farm. Also on sale, a selection of souvenir items with the resort logo, a change service on weekends and holidays in season.

The Tourist Office offers the following services:

In our tourist office you will find all the information to enjoy your stay.<br/>The service offered by Faucigny Glières Tourisme :

- tickets for theater, shows, excursion (organised by associations)

In summer this is a real playground for nature lover with many hiking trails, climbing and fishing sites.
