This long hike without any major difficulties is an excellent opportunity to buy a reblochon made in the alpine meadows. Located between Mont Charvin and the Tournette, mount Sulens offers a magnificent panorama over both massifs.
Start : Les Clefs/ Plan Bois Pass
    Tourist area : Aravis
    Starting altitude : 1299m
    Maximum altitude : 1650m

Plan Bois Pass – Plan du Tour : 90 minutes
Follow the tarmac road for a few hundred meters towards Bois Noir, before taking a wide track on your right, which climbs pleasantly in zig-zags, on the way passing various alpine chalets : Les Lanches. On the left take the opportunity of admiring the view of the Etale, Mandallaz, and the Tete de l’Aulp. After passing in front of an electrical substation, you arrive at an intersection. Follow the arrows, ignoring the wooden signpost, Bois Noir d’en bas. The view becomes more unobstructed as you climb, and the feeling of peacefulness increases. On the right, the Sulens, on the left the majestic Charvin. At the Bois Noir chalet, look out for the avalanche protection which absorbs the impact of the avalanche and causes it to pass around the buildings. Continue on the path through a pretty, but damp area of sedge and alder, up to the plan du Tour. You’re on the cheese path, a route for discovering the area, the produce and the local people. Why not take the time to try a reblochon.

Plan du Tour – Les Pezieres : 50 minutes
The path descends. Keep to the right. At Vouatais, follow the direction of Cret Vermant to the right, in the middle of open woodland of deciduous trees. This section is shared by the GR Pays Tournette-Aravis. At the next intersection, keep straight on. Here, the colours are gentle with rolling land. Slightly lower, take the path to the right, following the arrows on the trees. Once at the Cret Vermant alpine farm, take a small grassy path to the left of the building, which passes below it. A little further on, descend to the left to get to Les Pezieres, following the tarmac road for just a few meters, then take a right in the direction of the Plan Bois Pass. Keep going until you get there.

Pezieres Route – Plan Bois Pass : 70 minutes
You’ll find all along the return path numerous farms, and a superb view of the Charvin. At the next intersection, take the wide path on the right. A narrow path on the right allows access to the summit of the Sulens. Stay on the wide path. There’s a pleasant freshness in the shade of the trees. The descent is gentle, while straight opposite can be seen the Tournette. At the Bois de Mont Derriere (1250m), continue straight on, then 5 minutes later, take a right turning. Stay on this main path, following the arrows. Shortly after passing a disused quarry, the path rejoins the road which climbs to the pass on the right, and allows you to regain the car park. Don’t miss the pretty chapel on the way.
