Castle of Saint Michel d'Avully

Historic site and monument, Castle in Brenthonne

  • Situated in the Lake Geneva basin, in Chablais, between Thonon and Annemasse, the castle extends over a private domain of 15 hectares on the mountainside. Listed as a Historic Monument, it has been magnificently restored and has recovered all its medieval cachet.

  • Listed in the supplementary inventory of Historic Monuments (ISMH).

    Built on an ancient Gallo-Roman site from the 12th century by the family of Avully, the castle was fortified in the 14th century by order of the count of Savoy.
